are very important documents. A copy of a 'full' birth
certificate contains a great deal of useful information.
From addresses shown, it may lead directly to where
adoption files may be held. Additionally, information
shown relating to a birth parent may be a useful first
step in tracing them. Many adoptees have a 'short' certificate. This only shows name, date of birth and Country of birth. These certificates do not show mother's name, address or place of birth. Whilst the information you provide on the registration form should prove sufficient for your details to be entered on the Register it is important to remember that, if a match is found, Missing Links may require sight of copy certificates to clarify before details are exchanged between adoptee and relative. Because of recent changes in the ordering process at the General Registrar's Office, birth certificates which relate to events within the last 50 years will not be issued unless sufficient information is provided. Missing Links are authorised by the General Registrar's Office to obtain such certificates even if specific information is not available. If you would like details of our ordering service please indicate on your form and we will supply details when we reply to your application |
Missing Links is registered under the Data Protection Act and any information you provide is used solely for the purpose it is intended and not passed to any third party other than the person you are seeking and then only with your permission.
